Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) is a very popular MMORPG played by people of all ages. One of the most challenging parts of this game for players is making sufficient Final Fantasy XI gil (the currency in FFXI) to purchase the items and equipement they need to succeed in this game.
Endgame linkshells can be a source of fun and gil for Final Fantasy XI players. However, to join one you have to have a job near level 75 at least. This method for making FFXI gilis not for new players. Many endgame shells, particularly ones that share their gil with members, may require more than simply one level 75 job to join their shell. In fact, many of these shells may require that a player has several level 75 jobs and/or that the player's gear is above average. Many endgame shells are simply closed to new applicants as well, although many of them will recruit occasionally.
A good place for a relatively new player to start and endgame is in a sky shell. To join a sky shell as a melee or tank job, you will generally need to be at least level 70 and as a mage 68. Level 75 is recommended because once you join an endgame shell you may not have much time to finish leveling.
These endgame shells are able to make their members gil because they defeat difficult mobs in the game such as land kings, sky gods, and sea gods. After a player has been in the shell for a certain period of time, the gil made from killing these very difficult mobs may be shared with the player. This of course depends on the shell, its rules, and how they disperse gil.
What to Watch For
If you join an endgame shell that does not share gil with its members in any way, shape, or form (meaning they don't even buy things like abjurations for their members) you may wish to look into whether that shell is right for you.
